A project tackling the problem of disappearing spaces
for street dancers in Japan.

NIKE/WE MOVE TOKYO

Dancing in public spaces is shun upon in Tokyo. As the Olympics sets the stage to celebrate sport, dancers aren’t even given a stage.

This is especially ironic given that break dancing is a new sport that will be debuting in the 2024 Olympics. Nobody should be ostracized as such.

To encourage inclusivity Nike organized an event on the rooftop of Miyashita Park open to everyone, dancers or non-dancers.

And asked for an animation to promote the event.

Taking inspiration from Rie Hata, Japan’s Queen of Swag, host of the dance classes, to develop the character design for the animation.
